Barricade situations arise where persons can secure themselves in a room (with or without hostages) and are perceived to present a threat either to themselves or others. Creating a barricade situation typically involves holding, forcing or jamming the internal thumb-turn to prevent the operation of the Staff key. All Primera Turnpull lock-sets are designed with an integral Primary Barricade override facility. This unique mechanism is designed to ensure that the Staff key dominates the Turnpull at all times.
The Turnpull and the Staff key operate separate mechanisms inside the lockcase, with the Staff key always being the prevailing force. Unlike alternative offerings there is no clutch mechanism to override, so not chance of a lock in if side pressure should affect the deadbolt. There is also no gearing to disengage, as with other systems, so operation is light, smooth and trouble free.
The majority of our locksets require single cylinders and they will accept almost all European profile cylinders. We can also provide Oval profile and Swiss profile versions to order. In this way our locksets can usually utilise an existing master suite.
Primary Barricade override locksets are denoted by a product code beginning PR-1-.

Note 1 - The term ‘Anti-Ligature’ is used to indicate that a product has been designed to limit the potential for a ligature to be fastened to it. It does not signify that the product is completely ligature proof. Please see Standards & Testing.
Note 2 - Standard Primera products are designed for internal applications only. For external applcations products plated to ‘Service Condition 5’ should be requested/specified.
